Welcome
When I first started “What Are You Wading For” (thanks to my friend Jordan for encouraging me), I posted fishing reports for Logan, Utah. When I first started to wade the local rivers (Another thanks to the friend who got me addicted to the sport, Brent) I was lost. When I tried to poke around for information, I was confronted with a lot of secrecy and one trick pony fishermen. What I mean by one trick, I mean the type that fish one fly or one technique, all year round and that’s it. I really wanted to learn the rivers and the behavior of these fish. I dedicated all my free time to learning those rivers in Cache Valley.
The information I gathered from my daily fishing quests (After work) I would post it to this website. The website has changed since and all the reports I made have been forever deleted. When I deactivated the website, I forfeited those posts, too. I moved back to Virginia (currently here) and did not know If I should continue “What Are You Wading for”. I did not know what direction I should take it, and I came to a dead end. After restoring my grandfather’s 1966 Mustang and building a camper alongside (patent submitted), I now have a new vision for the brand.
Fly-fishing will always be the heart of the brand and I want to use it to promote the sport. Promote the sport to new fishermen and also promote it through legislation. Being lucky enough to have fished Montana numerous times, I would like to replicate their water access laws for Virginia (will be a battle) and elsewhere in the Nation, that is lacking access.
“What Are You Wading For” isn’t just about fishing but an attitude. We are all running out of time and we must allocate time wisely. We all have responsibilities but make sure to spend time doing what you enjoy, too. I have been there, when the things that drain the energy out of life (job, bad relationships, weather, etc), steal opportunities to get out and fish, or work on that project. Happy or sad, get out and do it! Go fish that river, go get that stupid, rusty bolt off, that’s slowing your project down or create that idea. What are you wading for?
I’ll be back to revise this but, in the meantime, I wanted to get something out there. It feels good to have a website again. When I was doing fishing reports, I found out that I really enjoyed writing. I will be writing blogs and adding merchandise to the store page. I had designs made years ago that I will start printing on clothing soon. I’ll figure out a percentage of proceeds to go to conservation groups to help protect the sport and waterways. Thanks for the support and taking time to read this.
